Embedded Wizard Teaser

EmWi

Embedded Wizard (EmWi) is a PC tool for developing and prototyping of platform independent Graphical User Interfaces (GUI) on embedded systems. It is used by manufacturers of consumer electronic devices, automotive and industry appliances worldwide to facilitate the GUI design for DVD(R)s, Personal Video Recorders, IDTVs, Flat Panel Displays, Set Top Boxes, mobile players and more.

It's advanced, user-friendly authoring tool facilitates the GUI design as well as coding the GUI behavior. It enables you to develop, customize and adapt your GUI across various product platforms with less effort and really simplifies graphical user interface development.

Lightweight 3D design approach

EmWi's new "Lightweight 3D" design approach enables sophisticated UI designs with 3D-like appearance and compelling effects: Optimized for dedicated embedded platforms, incl. 3D hardware graphics acceleration, and integrated into the familiar EmWi workflow.

Lightweight 3D design approach

Graphical user interfaces, designed with Embedded Wizard, cannot only display static text or images, but also dynamic content, e.g. loaded from the Internet as XML feeds. Thus, GUI applications can be enriched with content such as weather and news feeds, messages from twitter or images from Flickr - a popular functionality as more and more devices are connected to the Internet. A separate HTML browser is not necessary. Thus Embedded Wizard helps to save valuable memory footprint and processor performance.

For a showcase on occassion of the IBC fair, TARA has developed several customizable GUI widgets for Internet content, using TARA's own XML parser to provide the XML data to the GUI. The application was running on a hybrid DVB/IPTV set-top box with Internet connection.
